Slapshock frontman Jamir Garcia dies at 42

Fans were shocked to learn of Slapshock singer Jamir Garcia's death on Thursday.

According to a report by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit ng Quezon City Police District (QCPD-CIDU), the singer hanged himself at his home in Proj. 8, Brgy. Sangandaan, Quezon City.

His body was discovered by an aunt who immediately rushed him to the Metro North Medical Center and Hospital.

It was there that he was eventually declared dead on arrival.

Garcia was 42.

His death came a few months after Slapshock bassist Lee Nadela confirmed last September the band has disbanded, revealing ongoing friction between him and other members, including Garcia, guitarist Lean Ansing, drummer Chi Evora, and guitarist Jerry Basco.

Nadela alleged Garcia, Ansing, and Evora have been withdrawing band royalties from their shared account on digital music platform Tunecore without his and Basco's consent.

The band popularized numerous songs including "Cariño Brutal," "Sigaw," "Agent Orange," among others.
