Ferolino-Ampoloquio appointed Comelec commissioner


Malacañang is confident that new Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Aimee Ferolino-Ampoloquio would help ensure clean and credible elections in the country.

Ferolino-Ampoloquio has been nominated as Comelec commissioner by President Duterte on Nov. 24, according to Presidential spokesman Harry Roque.

"With her vast experience in election matters, Ms. Ampoloquio, would certainly contribute in ensuring our elections would be honest, orderly, peaceful, and credible,” Roque said in a statement.

"We wish Ms. Ampoloquio good luck in her future endeavors,” he added.

Earlier, Comelec chairman Sheriff Abas announced the President’s nomination of Ferolino-Ampoloquio as the new Comelec commissioner, citing her experience in the frontline of election service.  The Comelec official will have a term until Feb. 2, 2027.

Ferolino-Ampoloquio, a lawyer, currently serves as Provincial Election Supervisor of Davao del Norte. She joined the poll body in 1994 and rose through the ranks, occupying a number of positions.
