DoLE to fete media on founding anniversary

The Department of Labor and Employment will award members of media who stood with the government in keeping the public well-informed on employment and labor issues and helped in instilling hope among the people amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Labor department announced Thursday that the 2nd DoLE Media Awards will be among the highlights of the week-long celebration of the agency’s founding anniversary on Dec. 8.

The award underscores the significant contributions of the media in communicating the department’s programs and services for workers, employers, and jobseekers, it said.

“As we continue to grapple with the pandemic, the people have to be abreast of what the government is doing. This is why we thank the media for being our powerful partner in cascading our programs and services to the public. They stood by us in creating an informed, productively involved, and inspired people,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in a statement.

The awards will recognize individual media members and organizations for their published and broadcast works that depict DoLE’s high impact programs anchored on any of the Four Pillars of Decent Work Agenda: Respect for fundamental rights at work; facilitation of employment opportunities for all; social protection; and social dialogue.

DoLE asked members of the media and organizations to submit materials focusing on department's programs that impact on the lives of the Filipino workers, in the formal, informal sectors, and OFWs and their family.

The Labor department said materials must have been published (in print or online platform) or broadcast in mainstream media during the year.

All interested participants can submit their entries to [email protected] until Dec. 1.

Awarding ceremonies will be on Dec. 11.
