Nurses deployed in Sorsogon properly paid before they resigned --- DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) said that the nurses deployed in Sorsogon province were properly compensated.

Based on the report of the DOH-Sorsogon, the nurses have been paid, said Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

Recently, Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero complained that nine nurses, which the DOH deployed to the province, did not receive their salaries and benefits.

Vergeire said that the nurses were assigned to the Dr. Fernando B. Duran Sr. Memorial Hospital.

“They already resigned. They were paid on September 14," said Vergeire during an online forum Monday, November 23.

“Based (on) these information, nakita nating nabayaran naman silang mga nag resign ,” she added.

Vergeire also explained that the release of the salaries was delayed because the nurses did not immediately submit necessary employment documents.

“Meron tayong proseso for us to facilitate the salaries of our employees. Nakita natin sa track na meron pagkakahuli din sa pag submit ng requirements nitong mga empleyado. Kaya po yung sweldo nila hindi din agad nabigay ,”she said.

“Gusto natin i-remind ang ating healthcare workers, pag may hinihinging documentary requirements, agad nyo isubmit para di magkaroon ng delays sa pag proseso ng inyong mga salaries ,” she added.

Meanwhile, Vergeire said that the said nurses are not qualified to receive a hazard pay.

“Ang DOH Sorsogon explained that the hazard pay, under Administrative Order 26 is only for those who reported for duty during ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) from March 16 to May 15. The entrance to duty of these nurses was on June 15. Kaya di sila nabigyan ng hazard pay ,” said the Health official.
