DOLE urges workers: Report safety, health hazards right away
Workers were urged by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to report to them if they see any violation of occupational and safety and health standards in their workplaces.

"Let us help each other. Let us not just rely on our inspectors, safety officers, employer,"Noel Binag of the DOLE's Occupational Safety and Health Center, said during the Laging Handa briefing Monday.
"We encourage them (workers) to report to DOLE any violation of occupational and safety and health standards and we are very willing to provide the necessary assistance," he added.
"Workers’ have the responsibility and duty to report to DOLE whenever you feel the presence of imminent danger," said Binag.
He said their regional offices are ready to investigate whenever there are violations of the health standard.
Binag was also asked regarding the accident that occurred on November 21, 2020 at the north-bound Skyway Extension Project in Muntinlupa City.
A crane used in the Skyway Extension Project in Muntinlupa City tilted and fell, leaving one person dead and at least six others injured.
"Obviously, they failed to identify (a) hazard. Obviously, it was not properly controlled, the hazard in place, and it is always an assumption that every time they start a construction activity they should have a toolbox meeting because every day they need to identify potential hazard in workplaces and makes the necessary assessment and necessary control. So, in this situation, I believed they were not able to assess the situation on the ground, that’s why they were not able to anticipate the hazard that are potentially harmful to our workers," said Binag.
He reminded everyone to take seriously the law on Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS).
"We have to take this seriously or else these things will again happen," Binag said.
The labor department already issued a work stoppage order for the Skyway Extension Project on Monday.
