BTS wins 2 trophies at 2020 American Music Awards; performs 'Life Goes On,' 'Dynamite'

K-pop powerhouse BTS won two awards at the 2020 American Music Awards (AMAs) held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 22 (Nov. 23 in the Philippines).

BTS bagged the Favorite Social Artist award, beating EXO, NCT 127, Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande. They also won the Favorite Duo or Group-Pop/Rock award over the Jonas Brothers and Maroon 5.

This is the third straight year that BTS won the Favorite Social Artist award following their triumph in 2019 and 2018, the first year the award was introduced at the AMAs.

This is also the second consecutive year that BTS bagged the Favorite Duo or Group-Pop/Rock award. In last year’s AMAs, BTS also won Tour of the Year for a total of three awards.

At this year’s AMAs, BTS performed their hit single “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On,” the main track of their new album “BE (Deluxe Edition),” which came out on Nov. 20.

Other performers were Bebe Rexha featuring Doja Cat, Bell Biv DeVoe, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Lopez and Maluma, Justin Bieber with Benny Blanco, Katy Perry, Lewis Capaldi, 24kGoldn with Iann Dior, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, Shawn Mendes, Nelly and The Weeknd featuring Kenny G.

Winners at the AMAs were voted by fans from Oct. 26 to Nov. 26. The nominees were selected “based on key fan interactions – as reflected on the Billboard charts – including streaming, album and digital song sales, radio airplay and social activity. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners MRC Data and Next Big Sound, and reflect the time period of Sept. 27, 2019, through Sept. 24, 2020.”
