Social media superstar Charli D'Amelio becomes first to gain 100 million followers on TikTok

Even with an ongoing controversy involving a YouTube episode of Dinner With the D’Amelios, which lost her 1 million followers overnight, 16-year-old American social media influencer Charli D'Amelio finally gains 100 million TikTok followers today, Nov. 22, becoming the first-ever person to do so on the platform.

D'Amelio now joins the exclusive 100 million+ social media club featuring the world’s top athletes and A-list celebrities across popular platforms. The list includes Cristiano Ronaldo with 122 million on Facebook, Selena Gomez with 195 million, and Kylie Jenner at 201 million on Instagram, and PewDiePie topping YouTube with 105 million subscribers.

The Connecticut native D'Amelio achieves the milestone after just joining TikTok for a year and a half. As of this writing, the teen star’s latest upload is a dance video to the tune of Ariana Grande’s newest single “34+35,” clearly a post dedicated to all her supporters.

“Thank you all so, so, so, so much for 99 million,” she says, ahead of her now infamous historic rise. “I cannot wait to share what I have in store for you all very soon! I love you!”

The number of her followers, as of posting, is still on the rise.
