Ilagan Bishop David William Antonio has recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Diocese of Laoag in Isabela announced the good news in their Facebook page Saturday.
"We are relieved to officially announce that His Excellency Most Rev. David William V. Antonio, D.D., S.Th.D, Bishop of Ilagan has recovered from COVID- 19," Fr. Ric-Zeus Excellency E. Angobung, chancellor of the diocese, said in a statement.
"He was issued a Certification of Recovery, dated November 19, 2020 by Dr. Erasmo A. Cruz, Municipal Health Officer, Gamu, Isabela according to the Omnibus Interim Guidelines on Prevention, Isolation, Treatment and Reintegration Strategies for Covid 19," he added.
With this development, the diocese said the Sunday Mass at the St. Michael the Archangel Cathedral will already resume starting November 22.
The Chancery and the Bishop's residence will also be open accordingly, it added.
The Diocese of Laoag thanked everyone for their prayers and well wishes to Bp. Antonio.
It was on Nov. 12 when the diocese announced that Bp. Antonio tested positive for COVID-19 but was asymptomatic.
Other Catholic prelates have tested positive for COVID but have since recovered. They are Archdiocese of Manila apostolic administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo, retired Caloocan Bishop Deogracias Iniguez and former Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle.
