United States National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien will be in Manila on Monday, Nov.23, 2020, for the ceremonial turnover of defense articles to the Philippines.

O’Brien will be received by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. in a welcome ceremony at the DFA main office in Pasay City.
In an advisory, the DFA said the welcome rites for O’Brien will be immediately followed by a ceremonial turnover of the defense articles “as a testament to the enduring alliance, partnership and friendship between the two countries.”
Locsin and O’Brien are expected to deliver their respective statements shortly after the turnover.
Among the officials who will participate in the event are Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, and AFP Chief of Staff Gilbert Gapay.
O’Brien’s visit to the Philippines came more than a week after President Duterte ordered the extension of the abrogation of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) to another six months.
Locsin, who read the President’s order to extend the VFA on Nov. 11, specifically addressed the statement to NSA O’Brien.
