The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC), has provided updates regarding Typhoon Ulysses relief operations and revealed that 9,235 family food packs are now ready for distribution in their warehouses in Legazpi City, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Masbate.
The DSWD also said that it has a P3 million standby fund, while it has P15 million allocated for welfare goods.
For food items, the DSWD currently has 27,250 sacks of NFA rice, 352 cans of sardines, 352 cans of corned beef, and 62,227 packs of instant coffee. For non-food items, it has 52 tents, 2,374 sleeping kits, 477 family kits, 388 hygiene kits, 1,961 kitchen kits, 16,197 malongs, 499 laminated sacks, 14 laminated sacks that are 10 meters, and 21,330 blankets.
The update was made as of 10 p.m. of November 19.
The DSWD likewise reported that six provinces, comprised of 88 cities and municipalities and 1,312 barangays have been hit hard by Typhoon Ulysses. Because of the typhoon, 121,152 families comprised of 460,432 individuals, were affected.
DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista led the distribution of FFPs to 500 families in Sta. Cruz, Laguna on Friday. Most of the families still remain in evacuation centers as their homes are still submerged by flood caused by water rise in Laguna de Bay.
All across CALABARZON, more than 11,000 families are still temporarily living in 229 evacuation centers managed by their respective local government units.
