Smart, Globe restoration works continue

Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) and Globe Telecom Inc. reported Monday (Nov. 2) that they have begun restoring services in areas hit by Typhoon Rolly (international name Goni).

On Sunday (November 1) Smart said it had fully restored services in Northern Samar after customers experienced disruptions due to the typhoon.

However, customers in hardest hit areas, particularly in Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, and Albay, as well as in Batangas and Marinduque, may experience service disruptions because of commercial power failures and other transport-related issues.

So far, Smart is monitoring 13 provinces that are experiencing weak signals.

It’s closely working with local government units for the repair of affected sites that are deemed safe and under favorable weather conditions.

In fact the PLDT group had pre-positioned support teams before the typhoon even made landfall.

“We had already deployed our personnel and resources in areas that were on the path of Typhoon Rolly to quickly repair affected sites and maintain the resiliency of our network,” according to PLDT-Smart FVP & Group Head of Corporate Communications Cathy Yap-Yang.

To help residents with their communication needs, Smart has deployed personnel and resources for Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng Wifi in Aurora, Bataan, Bicol, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.

In its advisory, Globe stated that its call, text and internet services in parts of Batangas, Marinduque, Samar and Western Samar were affected due to power interruptions caused by the typhoon's strong winds.

Globe Prepaid, Postpaid TM, Globe Business, Globe MyBusiness, Globe At Home customers in these areas can experience difficulties in making calls, sending texts or using mobile data. "Rest assured that our technicians are addressing the issue to bring our services back to normal as soon as possible."
