Secrets of the resurrection plant to be revealed in upcoming 'Kingdom' spinoff

‘Kingdom’ season 2’s cliffhanger ending births a sidequel that’s coming in 2021

If you’re one of the few who have yet to watch the Korean zombie period series Kingdom, then close this page and come back once you’ve watched two seasons of it on Netflix.

But if you’re updated with the show, then read on.

*Some spoilers ahead*

Just in time for spooky season, Netflix released a teaser for a spinoff/sidequel to Kingdom season 2. If you remember, the last episode of the zombie flick ended with Lee Chang (played by Ju Ji-hoon) and his pals encountering a mysterious character on their journey to discover the origins of the infected. It was quite intriguing to see Gianna Jun in the role of the mysterious figure, who we now know is called Ashin.

This one-off special is helmed by Kim Seong-hun, who directed Kingdom season one and oversaw the production for season two, and series writer Kim Eun-hee.

If you’re a fan of the series and are very eager to know the mysteries behind the resurrection plant and the infected, worry not as Kingdom: Ashin of the North is scheduled for a worldwide premiere on Netflix in 2021.
