Johnny Depp loses libel battle vs British tabloid

Hollywood star Johnny Depp has lost his libel case against the U.K. tabloid The Sun, which called him a "wife beater" in an article. 

In a tweet by variety.com on Nov. 2, Judge Andrew Nicol ruled that the words were "substantially true" when The Sun reported Depp was a wife beater.

In 2018, The Sun reported in an article that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star he had been violent towards his former wife actress Amber Heard, 34.

Depp, 57, has denied all allegations that he attacked his ex-wife.
