Woman gives birth in Biñan evacuation center

BIÑAN CITY, Laguna - A woman gave birth in an evacuation center in Barangay Sto. Domingo on Thursday (November 19).

Barangay Captain Imee Sera Jose told Manila Bulletin that the woman, a resident of Barangay Dela Paz, went to the Barangay Sto. Domingo evacuation center on November 18 to visit her relatives.

Since the floods in Barangay Dela Paz were still deep, the pregnant woman feared for her safety given that it was her due month and she had no one else with her. The relatives convinced her to stay with them in the evacuation center so they can keep an eye on her.

It turned out to be a wise decision as the woman went into labor in the wee hours of November 19. Since she didn't want to be taken to a hospital, the barangay officials called for a midwife who delivered the baby.

The mom and the healthy baby are now staying in an isolation room in the evacuation center where they are being monitored by barangay health workers and provided with medication and hot meals.
