Viu PH to launch Filipino-dubbed Korean dramas

Leading OTT (over-the-top) video streaming platform Viu will be launching Filipino-dubbed Korean dramas to make it more accessible to fans in the Philippines.

Since 2016, Viu Philippines has always listened to opinions of Filipino K-drama fans. Korean dramas have been very popular in the country and according to Viu, there are fans who prefer to watch them in dubbed versions than to read subtitles.

As response to their request, Viu has decided to localize K-dramas by dubbing them in Filipino to allow more Pinoys to enjoy.

Filipino-dubbing will start on Nov. 20 with the Korean dramas “Emergency Couple” and “When the Weather is Fine.”

“Emergency Couple” is a romantic comedy about two exes, Oh Jin Hee (played by Song Ji-hyo of the popular TV variety show “Running Man”) and Oh Chang Min (Choi Jin-hyuk of “Zombie Detective”). After their divorce, the two meet again as interns at a hospital emergency room.

On the other hand, “When the Weather is Fine” is a healing love story about a city girl who returns to the province after getting burnt out in Seoul. In her hometown, Mok Hae Won ( played by Park Min-young) gets closer to her neighbor and high school classmate, Im Eun Seob (played by Seo Kang-joon) who happens to be harboring feelings for her since childhood.

New episodes will be available for free every Friday and Saturday beginning Nov. 20 on Viu, which is operated by Viu International Ltd.
