CCP to launch e-book for kids about COVID-19 pandemic

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is set to launch an e-book (electronic book) that contains a collection of artworks including comics and literary works for children about COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of the celebration of the CCP Children’s Biennale, it will launch “Sa Pagbabasa, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa” e-book online on Nov. 27 at 4pm, on CCP and CCP Intertextual Division’s Facebook pages.

“The launch does not only highlight the role books should play in our lives, but it champions the importance of nurturing the young readers’ curiosity and imagination through reading,” the CCP said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

According to CCP, the book project aims to engage children in reading local and relevant materials, as well as to give the public an access to numerous published children’s literature that teach and encourage them to protect themselves amid COVID-19 pandemic.

The CCP said the e-book contains a collection of children’s books, artworks, comics, and other artistic and literary works about health, COVID-19 pandemic, and the value of cooperation created by Filipino writers, illustrators, and children from different regions of the country.

In addition to the e-book launch, a storytelling session will be followed entitled “Masama Bang Humiling Ng Isa Pang Araw?” a story written and illustrated by teacher Oliver V. Arevalo of Olongapo City.

“Amidst the current social climate and pandemic, the e-book hopes to bring an encouraging message that can alleviate social isolation and generate a sense of purpose,” the CCP said.

It added that the e-book will be offered to the public for free.
