LUCENA CITY – Quezon Governor Danilo Suarez is seeking the support of national government for the Polillo Group of Islands, which bore the initial brunt of typhoon Ulysses.

Suarez made this disclosure during the Laging Handa program of Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, and said he flew to Polillo Island on Tuesday to see for himself the condition of the residents of the five island towns of Jomalig, Burdeos, Polillo, Patnanungan, and Panukalan.
He asked the national government to help the people get back on their feet with more more food and construction materials.
“Relief items have been initially deployed there before I arrived. We need more assistance like farm implements, food and medical supply,” he said.
He said the island towns have already received government support from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and (Department of Agriculture (DA) ranging from cash assistance, food packs, fertilizers and other farm inputs.
Suarez acknowledged that President Duterte had a lot on his plate sending help to places devastated by the recent typhoons.
“But we need more because our farmers are raring to recover from their losses and restore their farms,” Suarez added.
