Mariah Carey finally 'recognizes' talent of Ariana Grande

Remember the time when Mariah Carey would throw a little shade at up-and-coming divas, including Ariana Grande?

That happened four years ago when Mariah dropped by the television show "What What Happens Live" hosted by Andy Cohen.

In that episode, Andy asked Mariah about the divas she knows and she doesn't.

When Andy asked Mariah if she knew Ariana, Mariah replied: "No."

In a separate interview, Mariah made a comment about Ariana on following her footsteps.

"First of all, I'm still young, I discount numbers. Numerically speaking, I stopped counting at 17. But I wish everybody all the best of luck, and if this is a career path they choose, I hope that they can achieve longevity," said Mariah.

But it's all behind Mariah now and she's singing a different tune these days.

On Twitter Nov. 18, the Hollywood Reporter tweeted that "Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson are joining Mariah Caarey in her holiday special and have recorded a single and music video for Carey's "Oh Santa!"

Called "Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special," the holiday special will be broadcast on Apple TV on Dec. 4.

Other guests include Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland, The Peanuts Gang and Mykal-Michelle Harris.

Ariana currently holds the No. 1 album in the US Billboard Chart with "Positions." Her latest single "Positions" also went to No. 1 in the Billboard Singles Chart two weeks ago.
