55, 921 families affected by 'Ulysses' continue to stay in evacuation centers - DSWD
Around 1, 570 evacuation centers continue to provide temporary shelter to almost 56,000 families or some 223,000 persons affected by the onslaught of Typhoon “Ulysses”, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) bared Wednesday (Nov. 18).

The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) reported that as of 6 a.m., Nov.18, around 55, 921 families or 223, 378 persons from the eight ravaged regions are taking temporary shelter in 1, 570 evacuation centers.
The report also noted that there are around 66, 499 families or 232, 513 individuals who opted to stay with their relatives and/or friends.
The DSWD said a total of 823, 537 families or 3,276, 026 persons in 5, 847 barangays have been affected by Ulysses in the National Capital Region (NCR), Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
So far, the DSWD, local government units (LGUs) and private sectors have provided over P75. 46 million worth of relief assistance to the affected families.
According to the DROMIC report, around 65, 219 houses were damaged by Ulysses, 6, 049 of which were totally damaged and 59, 170 were partially damaged.
During the "Laging Handa" network briefing on Monday, Nov. 16, DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista disclosed that the agency has earmarked a substantial amount for the implementation of its recovery programs, such as Cash-for-Work, and Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) to assist the victims of calamities.
