This pasta dish only needs four main ingredients

Children should learn how to cook. It’s a basic life skill. After all, being comfortable enough in the kitchen to pull a few ingredients into a simple meal. Cooking is a source of pride for the children who can take care of themselves this way, or feed a friend or sibling. 

Start now, and your child will reap the benefits of a lifetime. With preschoolers, you can help them learn and practice some basic math concepts and build language skills while cooking. And the experience of creating meals with you can help build their self-confidence and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits.

Actress Judy Ann Santos and her husband Ryan believes in this. On Instagram, the actress posted a five-minute video where her children, 16-year-old Yohan, 10-year-old Lucho, and 4-year-old Luna are cooking “aglio e olio ala Angrydobo.” (You can even hear Judy Ann and her husband Ryan laughing while their kids are cooking.)

Simple yet tasty, it’s a recipe you and your child can easily make for any time of the day. Here’s how the children did it. 

1. Lucho brought a pot of water to a boil, and seasoned it with salt. He then added the spaghetti, and then covered the pan to let it cook for several minutes.

2. In a separate pan, Yohan, with the assistance of  her younger brother Lucho, cooked adobo flakes. And then, she set it aside. 

3. Lucho checked if the pasta was al dente, and then asked Yohan to drain the pasta.

4. Next, Yohan helped Luna pour olive oil on a clean pan. Lucho then added some garlic and gently simmered it until it began to turn golden. 

5. Yohan added the cooked spaghetti into a pan, while Lucho lowered down the heat. To taste, Lucho seasoned the pasta with salt and ground black pepper. 

4. Yohan added the adobo flakes, tossed the pasta to mix, and transferred it to a large plate, where she and her younger siblings ate. At the end of the video, Judy Ann seemed satisfied with the taste of the aglio e olio!
