PRC halting entry of non-Chinese nationals in PH due to COVID-19 concerns, says POEA

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has issued an advisory regarding the temporary suspension of entry into China by non-Chinese nationals in the Philippines holding valid Chinese visas or residence permits.

"The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Philippines has issued a notice temporarily suspending the entry into China of non-Chinese nationals in the Philippines holding visas or residence permits still valid as of November 5, 2020," POEA said in Advisory No. 152-2020 dated November 10.

"The Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the Philippines will no longer issue Certified Health Declaration Form for individuals belonging to the said categories," it further read.

The POEA said the suspension is a temporary response necessitated by the current situation of COVID-19.

In the advisory, POEA said entry by holders of diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas will not be affected.

It added that entry by non-Chinese nationals in the Philippines with visas issued after November 3 2020 will also not be affected.

According to POEA, foreign nationals visiting China for emergency needs may apply for visas at Chinese Embassy or Consulates.

"The above-mentioned measures will be assessed in accordance with the evolving situation and any adjustment will be announced accordingly," read the advisory.

The advisory was signed by POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia.
