Portion of Nabunturan public market closed

DAVAO CITY - The Agora Building in Nabunturan Public Market located in the municipality of Nabunturan in Davao de Oro province was temporarily closed for "intensive decontamination" effective Tuesday, November 17.

Municipal Mayor Chelita Amatong signed Executive Order No. 58-2020, ordering the temporary closure for disinfection and decontamination after a patient who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) last November 14 was found to have worked in the area prior to getting tested.

The patient was exposed to another COVID-19 positive patient.

The move to close the building was recommended by the Municipal Health Office.

The local government unit of Nabunturan said it will conduct swab tests among those who had close contact with the patient to assess when the operation of the market stalls can resume.

The building is where the meat, fish, fruits and vegetable sections of the public market are located.

According to the Executive Order, "vendors and market goers are encouraged to shift to other platforms of buying and selling" including online platforms.

Stall owners and vendors were also encouraged to self-isolate and immediately contact the Nabunturan COVID-19 Crisis Team for any symptom they experience.
