Navotas now has only 37 active COVID-19 cases

Navotas City’s number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases is now only at 37, as of Monday (November 16), proving that its strict lockdown measures are seemingly paying off.

According to Mayor Toby Tiangco, the city’s active cases comprise the only .7 percent of its 5,003 total confirmed cases.

He added that a total of 5,194 patients have already recovered while 154 died.

“Noong Sabado, sinabi po natin na target nating bumaba sa 30+ ang ating active cases ngayong linggo. Natutuwa po tayong nakamit natin ito agad (On Saturday, we said that we would target this week to further decrease our COVID-19 active cases by only 30+. I’m happy that we have achieved it),” Tiangco said in a Facebook post.

The local government’s response to its COVID-19 crisis apparently paid off. From about 100 new daily cases in July, it recently managed to lower its number to only less than 10 new daily cases.

This development can be attributed to the city’s strict measures, including imposing 24-hour curfew on minors, which is still being implemented; and reverting back to modified enhanced community quarantine while other Metro Manila cities already eased their guidelines in July.

In CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) area, Navotas has the least number of active COVID-19 cases as of November 16.

It is followed by Malabon with 44 cases, Valenzuela with 74 cases, and Caloocan with 142.
