2 Cagayan Valley cops honored for heroic efforts in aftermath of typhoon Ulysses


CAGAYAN – Two police personnel of Cagayan Valley were recognized for “displaying extraordinary acts” during rescue operations conducted in the aftermath of typhoon Ulysses.

Patrolman Jayrick Talog of the Ilagan City Police Station was awarded the “Medalya ng Kadakilaan”, or the Philippine National Police (PNP) Heroism Award, for his act of bravery in rescuing Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairperson Arnel Talaue and John Lloyd Calatayud, who were swept away by rushing floodwater in Barangay Marana, Ilagan City.

Also recognized as Patrolman Brayan Bangayan of the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO-2) headquarters for rescuing and assisting a pregnant woman on November 14.

PRO-2 Director Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves conferred the awards on Talosig and Bangayan, while extending his gratitude to the men and women of PRO-2 for their “untiring efforts in the search, rescue and relief operations” in the catastrophic aftermath of typhoon Ulysses.

“I am proud of what the Valley cops are doing to help alleviate the sufferings of the typhoon victims. Let us continue to give our best to ensure that no further harm will be experienced by our people because of this disaster,” Nieves said.
