15 national road section remain closed due to storm damage

Fifteen national road sections are still closed to traffic due to damages caused by typhoon “Ulysses,” the Department of Public Works and Highways said Monday.

These impassable roads are in the Cordillera Administrative Region with four, Cagayan Valley with three, Central Luzon with six, and Region 4-A and Bicol region with one road section each.  

These road sections remained closed to traffic due to soil collapse, landslide, roadslip, mudflow, toppled trees, damaged detour, eroded bridge approach, flooding, and carriageway settlement caused by continuous rains.

There are four road sections with limited access in CAR, Central Luzon, Bicol region, and Eastern Visayas due to roadslip, flooding, soured bridge approaches, and damaged detour.  

Affected roads include four sections of the Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Boundary Road; four sections of the Lubuagan-Batong-Buhay Road; a section of the Balbalan-Pinukpuk Road in Balbalan, Kalinga; two sections of the Mountain Province-Cagayan via Tabuk-Enrile Road; two sections of the Baybayog-Baggao-Dalin-Sta. Margarita Road; Itawes Bridge on the Cagayan-Apayao Road in Tuao, Cagayan; and the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge in Cabagan, Isabela.

Other affected roads are the Nueva Ecija-Aurora Road, Sto. Tomas -Minalin-Macabebe Road, Baliwag-Candaba-Sta. Ana

Road, Candaba-San Miguel Road, San Simon-Baliwag Road, Talisay-Laurel-Agoncillo Unclassified Road; and Junction  Panganiban-Sabloyon Road.

Moreover, the Baguio-Bua-Itogon Road in Sitio Kiangan Village, Barangay Ucab in Itogon, Benguet is not passable to heavy vehicles due to roadslip.

Sections of the Apalit-Macabebe-Masantol Road in Barangays Caduang Tete, Poblacion, Calsada Bayu, Sta. Rita, Calsada Bayu, Sta. Lucia, and Masantol are not passable to light vehicles due to flooding.

Three sections of the DM Junction-Legazpi-Sto. Domingo Road in Tabaco-Tiwi, Camarines Sur Boundary Road are not passable to heavy vehicles due to scoured bridge approaches. A section of the Jaro-Dagami-Burauen-Lapaz Road is not passable to four-wheel vehicles due to damaged detour.

Damage to infrastructure from Ulysses has reached P8.447 billion.

The most affected regions were the Bicol region, P3.3 billion; Region 4-A, P1.896 billion, and Cagayan Valley with P1.620 billion.
