“ promote work-life balance especially in these trying times through proper scheduling of activities and workplace rotation,” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
She also encouraged employers to provide support for the well-being of their workers.
“May responsibilidad po ang mga employers na pagbutihin ang physical, mental resilience ng kanilang mga empleyado (Employers have a responsibility to improve the physical and mental resilience of their employees),” she said.
“Employers shall provide their employees with psychosocial support especially those presenting with mental health concerns,” she added.
“If this is not available, a referral system to mental health specialists must be in place either through establishing a network with an accredited health facility through telemedicine services or through the National Center Mental Health crisis hotlines,” she furthered.
Vergeire said that too much stress may cause a negative impact on one’s mental health.
“The DOH recognizes that people are faced with severe stress whenever there are health emergencies,” she said.
Vergeire also reminded the public to not hesitate to seek professional advice if they are experiencing mental health problems.
“Let us seek help from a mental health professional if we are experiencing any stress, anxiety, or depression,” she said.
Vergeire made the statement days after Manila Regional Trial Court Judge Ma. Theresa Abadilla was killed by her clerk of court, lawyer Amador Rebato. It was reported that Rebato, who was a COVID-19 survivor, was suffering from depression.
