A screenshot of a module from the Schools Division of Occidental Mindoro is viral right now. It seems that it used actress Angel Locsin in describing an "obese person."
It read: “SITUATION. Angel Locsin is an obese person. She, together with Coco Martin, eats fatty and sweet food in MANG INASAL fast food restaurant most of the time. In her house, she is always watching television and does not have any physical activities.
Angel's fans and supporters were quick to react on the issue, noting body-shaming falls under bullying.
A netizen said, "Is that even a real module? I don’t believe the DepEd would actually produce something as mindless and as poorly constructed grammatically as that?"
As of writing, the Department of Education has not released any statement about it.
Angel is also silent.
Note that this is not the first time the actress was body-shamed.
Last year, Angel defended herself from people critical of her weight gain.
She said: "Anong klaseng person ka para magawa mo ‘yon? Perfect ka? Sobrang perfect mo?
“Ayokong makipag-deal sa mga ganoong klaseng tao kasi sad ang life nila.
"Ako walang problema, bakit ikaw ang dami mong issue? E katawan ko ‘to, ako ‘to, sarili ko ‘to. E ikaw ba, okay ka ba?”
