QUEZON – Hundreds of commuters were stranded after a portion of a major thoroughfare in Barangay Butaniog, Mulanay town here collapsed because of the continuous rains brought by typhoon Ulysses.

The Quezon Third Engineering District Office, led by Engineer Carolina Pastrana, has joined hands with the Mulanay municipal government, under Mayor Jay Tito Ojeda, in trying to repair the collapsed portion of the road, and for road clearing operations.
Ojeda also reported the landslides occurred in Sitio Kayugkog, Barangay Sta. Rosa; in Barangay Pakiing; and on the road going to San Narciso in Sitio Paitin in Brangay Sta. Rosa.
These roads have already been cleared by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and are now passable to commuters.
However, the Mulanay to San Narciso road was still not possible because of a landslide and a collapsed portion of the road.
In Lopez town, the portion of Maharlika Highway located in Barangay Canda Ibaba that connects to Barangay Sumulong in Calauag town was still not passable to all types of vehicles, as of press time. The area is still submerged in floodwater.
In Barangay Dona Aurora in Calauag, the portion of Maharlika Highway near the Our Lady of Fatima Parish Church had only one lane passable to motorists, while a landslide was reported to have occurred the blocked the boundary between Sitios Hugos and Villa Felisa in Barangay Sta. Maria.
In Catanauan town proper, Infanta Poblacion, Gen. Nakar in Barangay Banglos, Anoling Pamplona, Minahan Norte, Catablingan in Minahan Sure were also reported to have been submerged under floodwaters.
Panukulan town was also reported to have been hardest hit by the typhoon.
In Barangay San Isidro in Mauban town, a landslide occurred but the MDRRMO, with the help of the Municipal Engineering Office, was able to immediately conduct clearing operation.
The Quezon Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported that  a-55-year-old man was electrocuted at the height of Ulysses in Buenavista town, He was identified as Dande Aurellana, farmer, and a  resident of Barangay Wasay Ibaba, he died on the spot after while he was repairing a live wire.
As of November 12, the PDRRMC headed by Governor Danilo Suarez reported that about 13, 303 families were evacuated composed of 49, 411 from 385 barangay and they are temporarily sheltered at 592 evacuation centers, while the municipal and the provincial government conducted  relief operations. Suarez said that mostly, the evacuees are from the Northern Quezon in the towns of Real, Infanta, and Nakar.
Suarez also reported that as of this writing, the Polillo group of island has been experiencing power interruption and communication lines failure.
Several houses located near the shoreline in Barangay Sibulan in Polillo town were partially or totally damaged, while streets were reported blocked by fallen trees, as reported by the MDRRMO.
