Coast Guard sends teams to Marikina, Rizal, Cavite, Manila to rescue trapped residents
Rescue teams from the Philippine Coast Guard were deployed to help trapped residents in various parts of Metro Manila and nearby regions amid the onslaught of typhoon "Ulysses" Thursday.

Overwhelming cries for rescue invaded social media platforms as early as Thursday morning when the unexpected rise of floodwater trapped residents in low-lying areas in Marikina, Rizal, Manila, and Cavite.
More than 100 families residing in coastal communities in Cavite were rescued by teams from the Coast Guard Station in Cavite and disaster risk reduction and management offices (DRRMOs) at the height of the typhoon on Wednesday night to Thursday morning.
According to the Coast Guard, 47 families in Noveleta, 17 families in Rosario, 15 in Tanza, and 43 in Ternate were rescued from their homes and brought to evacuation centers.Â
Twenty families were also rescued by the Coast Guard in Barangay Isla Puting Bato in Tondo, Manila on Wednesday night.
A total of 20 families, composed of 61 individuals, were brought to the Almario Elementary School that serves as an evacuation center amid the onslaught of the typhoon, the agency said.
A team of 27 personnel equipped with search and rescue (SAR) gears and assets were also deployed in the municipalities of Montalban and Rodriguez in Rizal for evacuation and rescue operations at around 6 a.m.Â
Twenty personnel were also deployed in Marikina to help the city's disaster response unit in rescuing trapped residents. They are also equipped with multi-purpose vehicles for the rescue and evacuation.
An additional rescue team with six personnel equipped with rubber boats was also sent to help in Tumana, Marikina.Â
After the lifting of Storm Signal No. 1 in Eastern Visayas, Coast Guard Station Northern Samar has recalled the suspension of all sea travel in the area, and had already allowed the resumption of operations of vessels plying the Allen-Matnog at 5 a.m. Thursday.
The Coast Guard said "there are no more stranded passengers or vehicles in the area. No untoward incident occurred."
