#Bayanihan: Makati Indian resto gives porridge to 4,000 evacuees in Marikina

Owners of an Indian restaurant in Makati City cooked porridge for 4, 000 evacuees in Marikina City, which was badly devastated by Typhoons “Ulysses.”

The Royal Indian Curry House--RICH partnered with Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Asec. Pialago's non-government organization (NGO,) the Malasakit Movement, in order to quickly distribute the food they cooked for evacuees.
Chef Surat Rana, an Indian national, was the one who cooked the porridge distributed in the evacuation centers.
“This is our little way of helping Filipinos during these trying times. We partnered with the Malasakit Movement to make this possible,” he said.
Pialago said this is in response to the call of Marikina Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro to well-meaning people to donate cooked and ready-to-eat meals to evacuees.
“I was told by the owners of the restaurant that this will not be the last time that we will give meals to evacuees here,” she said.
“We transported the food from the kitchen of RICH in Makati to evacuation centers here in Marikina. We are doing this to provide sustenance to our kababayans here in the evacuation site,” Pialago added.
Rana said they served at least 4, 000 people, including frontliners in the evacuation sites.
Marikina residents were forced to evacuate after the Marikina River reached third alarm when the water level hit 18 meters and continued to rapidly rise earlier today (November 12).
