SRP for Noche Buena items unchanged

Suggested  retail prices (SRP) of Noche Buena products have remained unchanged as manufacturers agreed to absorb the additional costs of production in a show of solidarity with(B consumers who are hard up due to the pandemic.

This was shown in the new SRP released today (Nov. 10) by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that took effect also today. But there was no decrease also in prices of the 134 Noche Buena products as earlier hoped for by the DTI.

The list includes products such as ham, fruit cocktail, cheese, sandwich spread, mayonnaise and keso de bola. Also included are spaghetti, macaroni, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce and creamer.

Based on the SRP Bulletin, prices will be observed until a new bulletin is issued in 2021. However, some SKUs are allowed to adjust prices after December 31 this year. SRP for Angel Kremdensada 410ML is valid from November 15, 2020 up to Dec. 31, 2020. All Dole and Seasons products SRPs are valid from Dec. 1 to 31, 2020 only. Today’s Mixed Fruit 3kg and Del Monte Fiesta in Extra Light Syrup 3kg SRPs are also valued from Dec. 15-31, 2020 only.

Earlier, DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez said that manufacturers of Noche Buena products have submitted a petition for a price increase in the range of 1 to 3 percent due to higher cost of production.

The DTI have also appealed to these manufacturers not to raise prices because of the pandemic. But it also recognized that they cannot prevail upon if these manufacturers would raise prices because these products are not basic necessities and prime commodities.

Manufacturers historically adjust their prices during the Christmas season. There were also instances of shortages in the supply of Noche Buena products particularly fruit cocktail and spaghetti sauces.
