Russell Crowe, Mark Ruffalo pray for safety of Philippines amid typhoon 'Rolly'

Hollywood stars Russell Crowe and Mark Ruffalo took to social media to pray for the safety of the Philippines which is being battered by typhoon "Rolly" on Sunday, November 1.

"Praying for our brothers and sisters in the Philippines, then send donations," said Ruffalo, one of the stars of the blockbuster movie "The Avengers."

Netizens were quick to tell Ruffalo to send his donations to non-government organizations or to the Office of the Vice President to avoid corruption.

Crowe also wished the safety of Filipinos as the typhoon battered parts of the country.

"Just read about Super Typhoon Goni. Extraordinary wind speeds. Hope that it doesn’t make land fall at that force. Thinking of the people of The Philippines and wishing for everybody’s safety," the "Gladiator" actor said.

Typhoon Goni, locally known as Rolly, is said to be the strongest typhoon to ever recorded to make a landfall in 2020. It packed sustained winds of 225 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 280 kph.

Netizens thanked Crowe and Ruffalo for their concern for the Philippines.
