BTS wins best song, 3 other awards at 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards


K-pop superstars BTS bagged four trophies to emerge as the biggest winner at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMA) held on Nov. 8 (Nov. 9 in the Philippines).

BTS won four out of their five nominations: Best Song for their hit “Dynamite,” Best Group, Biggest Fans and Best Virtual Live for their record-breaking ‘Bang Bang Con: The Live” online concert last June.

“Dynamite” won the award over DaBaby’s “Rockstar” featuring Roddy Ricch, Dua Lipa’s “Don't Start Now,” Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain on Me,” Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” and The Weeknd’s "Blinding Lights.”

BTS grabbed the Best Group award, edging out BLACKPINK, 5 Seconds of Summer, Chloe x Halle, CNCO and Little Mix.

They also won Biggest Fans over BLACKPINK, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.

BTS’ “Bang Bang Con: The Live” online concert triumphed over J Balvin’s “Behind The Colores Live Experience,” Katy Perry’s “@ Tomorrow Land – Around The World,” Little Mix’s “UNCancelled,” Maluma’s “Papi Juancho Live” and Post Malone’s “Nirvana Tribute.” They were also nominated for Best Pop award, which went to Little Mix.

At the 2019 MTV EMAs, BTS won three awards: Best Group, Biggest Fans and Best Live. BTS won their very first MTV EMA trophy in 2015 when they won Best Korea Act. In 2018, they took home the Best Group and Biggest Fans awards.

This year, Stray Kids won Best Korea Act over boy bands ASTRO and Victon, Kard and girl group Everglow. BLACKPINK received three nominations: Best Group, Best Collaboration and Biggest Fans.

The winners were selected through online votes at www.mtvema.com or on social media, except for Best Video, which was selected by the MTV Music editorial team.
