The Bureau of Corrections confirmed Monday that another brawl occurred inside the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, just a month after a riot erupted inside the national penitentiary that claimed nine inmates.

BuCor said that the riot occurred at around 8:39 a.m. inside the Maximum Security Compound.
Details regarding injuries or casualties were unavailable as of posting time.
BuCor added that its personnel, members of the Philippine National Police-Special Weapons and Tactics, PNP-Special Action Force, and Bureau of Fire Protection immediately responded to the incident.
Other personnel from BuCor offices were ordered to evacuate the national headquarters to ensure their safety.
"Penal colonies were also advised to be on red alert in order to ensure peace and order within their area of responsibility," BuCor said.
BuCor chief Director General Gerald Bantag is closely monitoring the situation and is directing the operating team.
Investigation on the incident is still ongoing while BuCor said that disciplinary measures will be imposed on those responsible.
This riot comes just a month after a brawl occurred inside the NBP between the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik and Sigue-Sigue Commando gangs in which nine prisoners were killed.
Two weeks ago, BuCor launched “Oplan: Bura Tatak” to promote peace and order among inmates by effacing their tattoo marks to help remove the feeling of gang loyalty among Persons Deprived of Liberty.
Bantag said when it comes to security, BuCor has personnel who specialize in making sure that there is peace and order and that no riots will escalate. Their initiatives not only goes for the maximum security compound but also cascades to the minimum all the way to Davao, Zamboanga, and Leyte penal colonies.
