280 new COVID-19 cases, 8 deaths recorded in Davao region

DAVAO CITY - The number of active cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Davao region has increased to 1,885 over the weekend.

Based on the COVID-19 Regional Case Bulletin, the Davao region recorded a total of 280 more cases of COVID-19 in two days. This was higher compared with the 1,468 total active cases recorded the week before.

The DOH Davao Center for Health Development reported 143 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday and 137 on Sunday, November 8. The youngest case recorded last Saturday was a four-month old male infant from Barangay 23-C here.

Of the active cases, 10 patients were critical, 93 have severe symptoms, 652 have mild symptoms, and 1,130 were asymptomatic.

A total of eight deaths, and 125 recoveries were also recorded over the weekend.

Based on the profiles of confirmed COVID-19 cases, the oldest fatality recorded on Saturday was a 94-year-old man from Barangay 9-A in Davao City, who died last October 30, or eight days before the result of his test was released. He was among the four fatalities reported on November 7.

The region currently has a total of 230 COVID-19 deaths recorded. Davao City has reported the most number of deaths at 190.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries in the region was already at 4,372. Davao region has recorded a total of 6,487 COVID-19 cases.
