Mayor Vico unwittingly reveals Pasig’s surprise event


Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto unwittingly revealed a surprise event that was supposed to happen  in the city next week.

In a tweet Saturday night (Nov. 7), Sotto revealed the LGU was going to turn on Christmas lights on November 13 when asked by a netizen in a tweet what was going to happen on the said date which is coincidentally is Friday, the 13th.

“Ah, lighting lang nung Christmas lights may konting virtual program. Bawal pa Christmas party eh (Ah, just lighting of Christmas lights with a short virtual program. Christmas party is not allowed yet),” Sotto replied on Twitter.

Netizens were quick to call the mayor’s attention, saying the event was supposed to be a surprise.

Realizing this, Sotto tweeted, “Ah sorry surprise nga pala (oh sorry it was supposed to be a surprise).”

The Pasig Public Information Office (PIO) posted on its Facebook page Friday (November 6),  a teaser promoting an upcoming event on November 13.

“May mangyayari sa Friday the 13th. Abangan (Something is going to on Friday the 13th. Watch out),” the Pasig PIO announced.

On Saturday night, the city’s official social media page again posted about the surprise event, but this time, the post contained a clue of what will happen next week.

“Anim na araw na lang! Excited na para sa 11/13/2020? (Only six days left. Excited for 11/13/2020),” the post read.

“Tumutok sa Facebook Page ng PIO para sa updates, pwede rin sa Twitter ni Mayor Vico Sotto for spoilers! (Check out the PIO's Facebook Page for updates, and Mayor Vico Sotto's Twitter for spoilers!),” it added.

After the mayor’s revelation, the Pasig PIO tweeted emojis steam coming out of its nose in reaction to the mayor’s post.
