Helmets a must for e-scooter riders in Valenzuela City under new ordinance
Valenzuela City has passed an ordinance imposing guidelines for residents and the public using e-scooters in the city.
Under Ordinance No. 811 (The 2020 E-Scooter Ordinance), helmets are necessary for e-scooter riders.
The use of knee pads, wrist pads and elbow pads is also encouraged.
The measure allows persons aged 17 and above to use e-scooters in public places. Persons aged 16 and below can ride e-scooters only inside their compound with the guidance of their parents.
E-scooters are allowed to pass through all Valenzuela roads, except along MacArthur Highway.
Violators of the ordinance will be meted P500 fine or a 24-hour community service for every offense.
