DPWH converts multi-purpose hall in Reg. 1 into a COVID-19 isolation facility

ALAMINOS CITY -- In less than two weeks, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 1 was able to convert the Alaminos City multi-purpose building in Barangay Bolaney here into a COVID-19 isolation facility.

DPWH Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Engineer Josefina G. Oamar said the newly-completed facility was modified to add 24 more beds .

She said that as of October 31, 2020, Region 1 has a total of 13 DPWH Regional Evacuation Centers built that have been converted into quarantine facilities/healthcare facilities.

These are the evacuation centers in Paoay, Banna, and Batac City, Ilocos Norte; Vigan City, Ilocos Sur; Bacnotan, Agoo, and at the Government Center, Sevilla, San Fernando City, La Union dubbed as the Home of Hope, and the evacuation centers in San Nicolas, Dasol, Alaminos City, Calasiao, Manaoag, and Urbiztondo in Pangasinan.

A total of six local government buildings were converted into quarantine/healthcare facilities to accommodate suspected and probable COVID-19 patients.

Oamar said the DPWH will continue to build and convert structures to ensure that the demands are met for healthcare facilities in areas with COVID-19 spikes.
