Criminal group member nabbed in Mandaluyong drug bust

An alleged member of a criminal group who was identified as the Number 9 in the metro police’s top drug suspects was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday.

The Eastern Police District (EPD) identified the suspect as Edward Molina Bugaoan, 49, a resident of Gonzaga Street in Barangay Hagdang Bato Itaas, Mandaluyong.

He was arrested by members of the EPD Drug Enforcement Unit and District Intelligence Division in a drug bust in Barangay Bagong Silang, Mandaluyong Tuesday afternoon.

According to the EPD, Bugaoan was listed as Number 9 in National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Priority Data Base on Illegal Drug Personalities, and a member of the Jamir Gonzalez Criminal Group.

Police said the suspect was the last to be arrested among the three members of the criminal group, which was involved in carnapping and illegal drugs trade in Mandaluyong.

The arrest stemmed from a tip where Bugaoan, who also goes by the name “Ed” and “Nognog,” was engaged in illegal drug activities in the village.

He was reportedly using his home as a drug den where he can dispose of more than 50 grams of shabu at a given transaction.

Background investigation on the suspect also revealed that he was previously arrested for drug-related charges but was discharged after his application for a probation was granted by a local court.

Police seized from the suspect about six grams of suspected shabu estimated to be worth about P40,800.

Bugaoan was temporarily detained at the Mandaluyong Police custodial facility, while a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” would be filed against the suspect.
