After an eight-day recap, GMA Network’s internationally-acclaimed series "Descendants of the Sun: The Philippine Adaptation" is set to air brand new episodes beginning November 5.
Its esteemed director, Dominic Zapata, promises viewers that they can expect the same quality from the previously aired episodes despite being taped under strict safety protocols during the quarantine.
“Viewers should expect the same quality from DOTS Ph because that’s what they deserve,” he said. “If anything, there will be even bigger, more mind-blowing revelations as our protagonists’ world become smaller and more complicated. The show won big in the Seoul International Drama Awards and it promises to live up to that.”
The series follows the love story of Alpha Team Leader Capt. Lucas Manalo, portrayed by Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, and cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr. Maxine Dela Cruz, brought to life by Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado.
“We’re very excited to show our loyal viewers the continuation of Descendants of the Sun. It took a while but we’re very grateful that they stuck with us and continued to support us. Ito na ‘yun, we’re back and it only gets better from here on,” Dingdong shared.
Reporting for duty with them are Rocco Nacino as Technical Sergeant Diego Ramos and Jasmine Curtis-Smith as Captain Moira Defensor, who are also eager to show viewers more of the story’s romance and action-packed scenes.
“We can’t wait for them to finally see our hard work. It was definitely challenging to shoot but we’re very proud of how it turned out. There are a lot more exciting scenes we have in store for them, so be sure to catch the new episodes of Descendants of the Sun,” Rocco shared.
For Jasmine, “We may have had to re-learn our characters and the story itself, but it was such a breeze because everyone was so professional. Everything fell into place and of course we’re excited to finally let viewers watch the unfolding of the story.”
Also back on the series as hard-working doctors and nurses are Renz Fernandez, Chariz Solomon, Andre Paras, Nicole Donesa, Reese Tuazon, Jenzel Angeles, and Bobby Andrews.
Meanwhile, the brave military team is composed of Paul Salas, Jon Lucas, Lucho Ayala, and Prince Clemente.
Completing the cast are Neil Ryan Sese, Pancho Magno, Antonio Aquitania, Ricardo Cepeda, Ian Ignacio, Rich Asuncion, Carlo Gonzalez, Hailey Mendes, Marina Benipayo, and Roi Vinzon.
