2-yr-old boy dies after falling into irrigation canal in Pangasinan

PANGASINAN –  A two-year-old boy was found dead in an irrigation canal in Zone 2, Barangay Dilan Paurido, Urdaneta City on Monday, November 2.

P/Staff Sergeant  Randy Darang said the boy, later identified as Kenneth Rarasy Derije, who was a resident of the area, was playing with a four-year-old girl when he accidentally fell into the canal.

Immediately, the young girl sought help from local residents, and informed Kenneth’s grandmother Gina Molina Derije what happened.

Other concerned residents contacted the Urdaneta City police, which responded quickly, and conducted a retrieval operation, but the child was already dead.

It was learned that the child suddenly disappeared from his family's sight, and unexpectedly reached the irrigation ditch where her fell into at around 7:30 a.m.

Kenneth was rushed to the Urdaneta District Hospital where he was declared dead on-arrival.
