2 fishermen survive lightning strike in Zamboanga del Sur


ZAMBOANGA CITY (PNA) – Two fishermen suffered burns after being hit by lightning in Zamboanga del Sur amid the inclement weather brought by typhoon Rolly on Saturday, October 31.

Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the victims as Jamelacay Sala, 17, and Eddie Mohale, 40.

Duco said the victims were fishing over the weekend off the coast of Barangay Salawagan, Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur when lightning struck their banca.

Several residents rushed the two fishermen to the Rural Health Unit of Pitogo town, Zamboanga del Sur, and were later transferred to Margosatubig Regional Hospital in neighboring Margosatubig town.
