Korean comedian Park Ji-sun found dead at home


Korean comedian Park Ji-sun and her mother were found dead at their home in Mapo-gu, Seoul at about 1:44 p.m. on Nov. 2. She was 35. 

According to Korean media, her father called the police after she and her mother did not answer their phones. When the police arrived, the two were found dead.

Park Ji-sun was undergoing treatment due to health concerns and her mother was staying with her. Police are investigating what caused their deaths but they are suspecting the two committed suicide. 

She debuted as a comedian in 20017 and was a mainstay of the comedy TV program “Gag Concert.” Until recently, she worked as an emcee in different showcases, films, entertainment and drama production presentations including the production showcase of Red Velvet members Irene and Seulgi’s “Level Up Thrilling Project” last July. 

She appeared in many TV shows including “Infinite Challenge,” “Yoo Quiz on the Block” and “King of Mask Singer.” She won the female rookie, excellence and grand prize in comedy at the KBS Entertainment Awards in 2007, 2008 and 2010.
