Fisherman missing in Marinduque

A 30-year-old fisherman was reported missing off the waters of Marinduque, the local police reported on Sunday.

Lt. Col. Imelda Tolentino, spokesperson of the MIMAROPA (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) regional police, said the victim was last seen alive on October 30.

She identified the missing fisherman as John Dariel Gonzales, of Barangay Marlangga in Torrijos town.

“Reportedly, he went out to sea to go fishing using yellow and blue with markings "Gabriel" motorized banca. He never returned home as of this time,” said Tolentino.

Authorities are yet to determine if the incident can be considered as related to typhoon ‘Rolly’.

Meanwhile, Tolentino reported that there were 9,373 families composed of 29,597 individuals who are now staying in various evacuation centers in the region.
