NASSA/Caritas Philippines is appealing for prayers and for donations to help those who are affected by Typhoon “Rolly.”
“While we urge everyone to continue praying for safety, we also launch today our global appeal for help. The typhoon will surely bring greater poverty to our communities affected by the typhoon, as they have also been battling against the effects of COVID-19,” said NASSA/Caritas Philippines National Director Bishop Colin Bagaforo.
“So with humility, we appeal for everyone’s sincere acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion,” he added.
Caritas Executive Secretary Fr. Tony Labiao also urged the faithful to ask for the Lord’s guidance during these challenging times.
“In these most trying times, we lift up everything to God. We also know that everyone around the world will be able to listen to our prayers and send help. Let's do #AlayKapwa,” he said.
Those who wish to give may deposit their donations through Nassa/Caritas Philippines’ Alay Kapwa account at the Bank of the Philippine Islands, with account no. 4951 0071 08 and account name CBCP Caritas Filipinas Foundation Inc.-NASSA.
It also has a dollar account for donations: Metrobank, account number 632 2 632 00293 3, with account name CBCP Caritas Filipinas Foundation Inc.
For euro deposits: Metrobank, account number 632 2 63260023 7, with account name CBCP Caritas Filipinas Foundation Inc.
To note, the NASSA/Caritas Philippines is the humanitarian, development, and advocacy arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the prelates urged churches to open their facilities to those who are needing temporary shelter.
“Let us join our prayers with action, especially in welcoming to our churches and homes if we can our brothers and sisters who need evacuation shelter at this time,” said Legaspi Bishop Joel Baylon.
“Should need arise, let us once again open our churches, chapels, schools, for evacuees and provide assistance to them,” the Archdiocese of Lipa said.
