Korean star Park Bogum completes 6 weeks of Navy's basic military training
Korean actor Park Bogum, 27, finished six weeks of basic military training in the Navy after enlisting in August.
A completion ceremony for all 1,297 recruits belonging to the 669th Navy group including Park Bogum who enlisted on Aug. 31 was held on Oct. 8 at the Naval Education and Training Command in Jinhae, Changwon in South Gyeongsang Province in South Korea.
To prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the event was held without inviting outsiders such as family and friends of the recruits. A video of the completion ceremony was released on YouTube.
At the end of the video, the commemorative photos of the Navy recruits were shown including Park Bogum who posed with fellow classmates belonging to the 4th platoon of the 2nd company.

During the last six weeks, the recruits underwent personality tests, physical exams and physical fitness tests. They were taught how to handle a weapon, combat swimming, survival training, shooting training, gymnastics, combat and gas mask training.
After the training, he will be transferred to the Navy headquarters in Gyeryong, South Chungcheong province. Including the training period, Park Bogum will serve for 20 months and he will be discharged in April 2022.
Last June, Park Bogum passed the exam and interview for the Navy’s military band and honor guard. All able-bodied South Korean men are required to enlist in the military by age 28.
Park Bogum is currently starring in the K-drama “Record of Youth,” which he completed before enlisting in the Navy. The TV series premiered on Sept. 7 and will air its last episode on Oct. 27. His popularity soared after starring in the hit dramas “Reply 1988” and “Love in the Moonlight.”
