The San Miguel Beermen commemorated the 130th anniversary of the company’s flagship product by doing a dance number while sporting a retro jersey that will be used in the PBA restart in Clark, Pampanga.
A 30-second video showed several SMB players led by June Mar Fajardo, Arwind Santos, Alex Cabagnot, Marcio Lassiter, Terrence Romeo and Mo Tautuaa in separate groups dancing to the tune of San Miguel Pale Pilsen’s jingle.
But more noticeable was the uniforms the players were wearing.
San Miguel players wore red uniforms replicated from the 1992 season, the same year Beermen assistant coach and Kapampangan Ato Agustin won his only Most Valuable Player award.
That year also saw the Beermen win the All-Filipino crown after beating the Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs in seven games.
SMB team manager Gee Abanilla later confirmed to online site Spin.ph that the jerseys will be used in select games of the Philippine Cup resumption at the Angeles University Foundation gym.
The Beermen will continue to wear the uniform design being used since the 2000 Governors’ Cup.
The players did their dance number during one of their practices several weeks ago at the Acropolis Gym which was split into groups of four players each as part of strict health measures.
Fajardo, on the other hand, did his own dance number at home since he’s still recovering from a shin injury that will force him to miss the restart.
