Uy-led Phoenix Petroleum Philippines Inc. is extending two-pronged assistance to farmers and fisherfolk by providing fuel assistance of up to P4.00 per liter until yearend; as well as allotting retail or vending space for them to sell their products at the company’s designated gasoline stations.

The oil company’s help to these vital food-producing segments are in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Energy.

On top of the discount, Phoenix Petroleum will also be donating P50,000 worth of fuel to be channeled through the agriculture department.

On the cost markdown, Phoenix Petroleum noted that it is bestowing “special discount scheme” to farmers and fisherfolk, primarily at its specified retail stations in South and Central Luzon.

“The registered beneficiaries may avail of fuel discounts of up to P4.00 until the end of the year,” the oil firm has emphasized.

The company added that “a dedicated fleet program will also be developed especially for participating farmers and fisherfolk with substantial fuel requirements of at least 2,000 liters per month.”

Phoenix Petroleum explained that through this endeavor, “qualified applicants will be able to manage their consumption and enjoy additional features, including cashless transactions, varied payment terms and comprehensive reports.”

On the provision of space for these stakeholders in the agriculture sector, Phoenix Petroleum General Manager for Retail Sales Eric Inocencio stated they will help sort out the challenges, primarily in the distribution of agricultural goods.

“Phoenix has provided spaces in participating retail stations in South and Central Luzon where farmers and fisherfolk may sell agricultural products such as fruits and vegetables from 6:00am to 2:00pm daily up to December 31, 2020,” the oil firm said.

It added that the only requirement they asked from these sellers would be to observe health protocols when doing their chores -- chiefly physical distancing; wearing of masks and face shields; and for them to limit movement at their designated areas so traffic can be properly managed.

Atty Raymond T. Zorrilla, senior vice president of Phoenix Petroleum, qualified that “with this initiative, we would be able to help farmers and fisherfolk by giving them a new channel to offer their products; and additional support that will alleviate their fuel expenses.”

He added by providing opportunities to those in need during this challenging period, this will “ultimately help soften the blow of the pandemic to their livelihood.” (MMV)
