Bren Esports showed its veteran poise as it downed BSB, 2-0, to cement its hold of the group lead in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Pro League-Philippines (MPL-PH) Season 6 on Friday night.
After a dominant first game, Bren had to overcome a connection problem and BSB's resistance in Game 2 to hike its tally to 26 points at the top of Group B.
League veteran Efphraim Jueinno "Ejhay." Sambrano, who subbed in for Allan Sancio "Lusty" Castromayor, displayed his brilliance on Popol and Kupa in his season debut to help Bren take a 10,000 gold lead in just the eighth minute.
But it was the prodigy Karl Gabriel "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno on his Wanwan who powered Bren's decimation of BSB in the series opener.
KarlTzy came through with a flawless record of seven kills and four assists against zero deaths to lead the Francis "Ducky" Glindro-coached team to a one-sided 17-3 victory.
Following a lengthy delay in the second game due to Bren's connection trouble, BSB pounced on an early advantage behind the pushing prowess of Wilson "Wilson" Bagayawa's Yu Zhong and Jann Aldrix "Drixx" Tan's Roger.
However, CJ "Ribo" Ribo's Uranus was an immovable force for Bren during team fights, taking all the damage while KarlTzy's Lancelot teared the BSB players one after another.
Bren was able to take a 4-for-1 exchange in the 15th minute and killed the Lord shortly after to seal the 25-18 triumph in 20 minutes.
KarlTzy unloaded 97,000 damage en route to an 8-1-11 record while Ribo had a 7-1-7 tally.
BSB's playoff chances went bleaker as it remained at the bottom of Group B with six points
