Davao Region records 113 new COVID-19 cases


DAVAO CITY - The Department of Health (DOH) Davao Center for Health Development reported 113 new additional cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the region on Wednesday, bringing the total number of active cases to 1,108.

The DOH said 76 more cases were recorded in Davao City, 27 in Davao del Sur, six in Davao del Norte, three in Davao de Oro, and one in Davao Oriental.

Davao region has so far recorded a total of 4,976 cases of COVID-19. Davao City has the highest number of active cases with 757, followed by Davao del Norte with 141, and Davao del Sur with 123. Davao de Oro has a total of 46 active cases, Davao Oriental has 27, while Davao Occidental has 14 .

To prevent the spread of the virus, the city government here advised workplaces and establishments to cooperate with the inspections being conducted by the local government to ensure their compliance with Executive Order No. 57.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte issued Executive Order No. 57 on Monday.

“Ang atoang intention with the EO is to put accountability sa mga offices, establishments, and organizations in charge. If we say restaurants, restaurants will police themselves, and mag inspect ang city government team kung naga-enforce ba gyud ang restaurant (Our intention with the EO is to put accountability to the offices, establishments, and organizations in charge. “We are asking for your support and cooperation,” she urged the public. She also reminded Dabawenyos that Davao City is still under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

The DOH also said four deaths were reported on Wednesday. The DOH said three of these were from Davao City and one from Davao del Sur. Davao region now has a total of 181 reported deaths due to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, there were 68 recoveries reported on Wednesday, including 53 recoveries from Davao City, nine from Davao Oriental, four from Davao del Sur, and one each from Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.
